Home. It’s where the heart is, right? It’s also where my worries are, where my inner demons rear their ugly head. You see, I have three children, a house that needs to be cleaned, and a writer’s needs. I struggle daily with the balancing act of motherhood and writing. I fail at it, too. Nearly every day, my writing takes a back seat to my children, my home, and my waning attention level.

I want to be a great mom. I strive to be a great writer. I find myself constantly needing to choose which immediate ‘thing’ needs to be done, which fire requires my attention more than any other. My oldest child has kindergarten, but only for half the day. We have yet to find a
